Three years ago there was very little "Beaufort history" online. I began "Beaufort - The Town and Why It's Unique." My mission was (and still is) to continue the research I'd already gathered in my work with Beaufort porches, compile and post the interesting history. Being a visual person, part of the mission has always been the inclusion of fascinating old images, especially those of residents who built houses and raised their families in days gone by.
Now, other researchers, genealogists and descendants, who have roots in this unique three-century-old seaside village, read the posts and get in touch with me. Therefore, I have been able to add more facts, unfound history and more old images that have been tucked away in family Bibles or handed down through the generations.
"Beaufort--The Town" led me to doing other sites. This page provides stand-alone access to these sites.

Below is an article by Craig Ramey in Spring 2009 Waterfront Magazine. In the article Ramey referred to Porchscapes--An Artist Looks at Beaufort, the original "working" title for the book.
